Landmark Center - BOSTON, MA
Mechanical Construction & Commercial HVAC Services
CLIENT OBJECTIVES
To develop its real estate assets, the developer sought to transform a non-productive holding into a useful, modern building, while preserving its historic character.
VALUE DELIVERED
An abandoned "landmark" was transformed into a functioning office and retail operation with contemporary amenities, a milestone for the developer and the city.
PROJECT SOLUTIONS
J.C. Higgins provided two new central heating and cooling plants with infrastructure for future tenant use, as well as new fresh air supply systems and commercial HVAC systems for the common spaces throughout.
The facility was completely gutted, leaving only the cast-in-place structure with brick facade. It was then reconstructed using modern materials and new mechanical systems, while preserving the detailing of the original structure.
CLIENT BACKGROUND
Located in Boston’s Fenway area, the Landmark Center, a 1-million-square-foot 9-story structure, was once the office and retail space for Sears Roebuck & Company.
